Geographical Location:
Dakahlia
is considered as one of the ancient Governorates in Egypt. It gained this
name from a village called "Dakahlia", which is an old one in the
Governorate; then it became an affiliate to AlZarka District of Damietta
Governorate following administrative amendments.
The Dakahlia Governorate lies in the Nile Delta eastern north sector around
Damietta branch. On its east side lies Sharkya Governorate; the
Mediterranean Sea on the north; Damietta Governorate on the east north; and
on the south lies Qulayoubia.
Population:
The Dakahlia Governorate reports a population of 5cm In terms of
population, it is the third largest Governorate in Egypt. The total area of
the governorate is 3470.90km2
equal to 810699 acre.
The Dakahlia Governorate is considered as the Nile Delta base (Egypt's first
farm) where the total cultivated area equals 644880
acre,
farm crops represent 629009 acre,
and permanent crops represent about 15871
acre. Agricultural areas
cover approximately 10% of the cultivated area of the country.
It produces 13% of the country's total production of cotton,
19% of the rice, 10% of the wheat and 5% of
the maize crop in Egypt.
Dakahlia scored high production rates of main crops that exceed other
Governorates in the country. Cultivable represents about 88031
acre,
the Governorate is rich land with water and fish resources and ranks as the
first Governorate in Egypt in terms of the production of white and red meat
and eggs.
Industry:
There is a large industrial
base in Dakahlia including fertilizers industry, hydrogenation of oils and
soup, chemicals, spinning and weaving, garments, wood, rice milling,
crushers, cotton mills, milk, ------- etc. This in addition to a number of
District-related industries in Mit Ghamr, Sugar industry in Belkas, car
accessories, natural gas in talkha and Mansoura, fruit and vegetable
processing and glass industry in Aga.

The Governorate "Logo" includes a light green circled area with two opposing
wheat spikes symbolic of the agricultural activity surrounded by a
pointed cog which is symbolic of the industrial development in the
Governorate. This cog is surrounded by a blue area symbolic of the beach of
the Meditterranean Sea (Gamasa Tourist Resort); which emerges from a red
base inside the two spikes, out of which appear 20 twigs
symbolic of the governorate administrative Districts and Towns.

1. Gamasa Tourist
Resort:
Gamasa
resort is one of the most wonderful resorts in Egypt. It's well known for
its pure water, low humidity, and soft sand. Gamasa is located at the north
of Dakhalia. It is considered as the closest resort to cairo.
2. Manzala Lake:
It is well known for a group of isles, most important of which is Ibn-Salam
island, which embraces the tomb of one one of Prophet Mohamed's Companions -
named Abdullah ibn Salam. It is also rich with various types of fish, and
immigrant birds.
3. Gizerat Al-Ward in Mansoura:
It is an
island located at the Nile River bank facing Mansoura City (area: 30
acre).
It could be described as having a large green area and gardens, and became
an attractive tourist area at the national and international levels. A
social club has been established on the island comprising a child club,
areas for Volly Ball, Basketball, and tennis court in addition to a center
for phesio-therapy activities. Moreover, the Governorate has established
Shagaret El-Dor Park on 16 acre
area including a cafeteria, and children entertainment areas.

Including large green spots and animal cages.
6. New
Omkholthom statue.
It has been established at 6th of October Square in Mansoura on
a round green spot. It's been gifted to the Governorate by the Ministry of
Culture and has been made by Tarek Al-Komy.

of the statue id 100.000 LE. and made of fiberglass.
